Stauning, a distillery based in a small village on the west coast of Denmark, was founded in 2005 by a diverse group of nine friends with a shared desire to create a remarkable Danish whisky. The Stauning Rye Batch 1-2020 is a full-bodied Danish rye whisky made with a combination of local malted rye and barley, distilled in open-fired stills and aged in American oak casks. This results in a smooth and award-winning whisky with a handmade quality. Double distilled and bottled at 48% ABV, this whisky has delicious notes of rye bread, berries, and chocolate. In addition to the Stauning Rye, Stauning is known for their flagship smoked single malt whisky, Stauning Smoke, which is made with locally malted West Jutland barley that is floor-malted and smoked on local peat and heather.
