Bladnoch Distillery, one of Scotland's oldest distilleries, was founded by John and Thomas McClelland in 1817 on their farm in the southwest of Scotland. After staying in the McClelland family until 1905, the distillery faced closure due to over-supply. Revived by Arther Bell & Sons in 1983 and subsequently enhanced under Guinness's ownership in 1988 with a visitors center, Bladnoch faced various challenges until its recent renaissance. Bladnoch's proximity to the sea crossing between Stranraer and Larne was instrumental in its history of survival, with significant renovations in the new century under Master Distiller Ian MacMillan. Production resumed in 2017, marking the 203rd anniversary of the distillery. The Pure Scot Blended Scotch Whisky is a meticulously crafted blend of Bladnoch's single malt whisky, which is at least 9 years old, and aged malt whiskies from Islay, the Highlands, and Speyside, along with carefully selected grain whiskies. Master Distiller Ian Macmillan personally oversaw the creation of this fine blend, which is designed to be enjoyed neat or in cocktails. Expect notes of orchard fruits, toffee, sweet spices, and a hint of smoke.
