Crafted exclusively from Islay malted barley, this single malt emphasizes the creative potential of distillation. The Laphroaig team was granted complete freedom to innovate, resulting in a whisky that captures the quintessential Laphroaig character while introducing new layers of complexity.
For this edition, the distillery experimented with a 50/50 mix of fully and semi-cloudy wort, elevating the tropical notes and phenolic intensity to extraordinary levels. This process resulted in a whisky with a rich aroma of smoky bacon, woody bonfire embers, and hints of charred strawberry and pineapple, followed by a spicy and peppery palate. Tropical fruits, winter cloves, and liquorice flavors lead to a long and warming finish filled with smoke and peat.
Elements 1.0 is a premium single malt with flavors of spicy pepper, charred pineapple, and tangy liquorice. Bottled at a robust 58.6% ABV, it is matured in bourbon casks and presented in a box inspired by the distillery's expansion designs from the late 1800s and early 1900s.
