Named after the stream flowing near the distillery in Clermont, Kentucky, Knob Creek 9 Year Old 50% ABV (100 Proof) was first produced in 1992. This Kentucky Straight Bourbon is a result of careful selection of casks, offering a complex, vegetal nose. Made predominantly from corn, along with barley and rye, the distillates are expertly blended and aged in barrels for nine years. This meticulous process results in a bourbon that surprises and delights with every sip.
On the nose, it opens with a powerful note of heavily caramelized corn, akin to a sweet brown caramel. The woodiness is elegant and generous, almost matching the forefront and revealing nutty nuances as it airs. The palate is unctuous and rich in spices, briefly highlighting vanilla before oak and cereals take over, expressing themselves robustly. The experience is less sweet than on the nose, with a slightly bitter but still delicious undertone. Hazelnut predominates, becoming roasted and peppery as the tasting progresses. The finish remains intense for several moments, lively and well-spiced but drier, with cinnamon and wood tannins accentuating the nutty character.
