The Tribute whisky is referred to as a "Heritage Spirit Batch" because it carries subtle hints of peat smoke, reminiscent of the old days when peat was commonly used to fuel drying kilns due to a shortage of firewood across Scotland. This process imparted the characteristic smoky nuances to the barley malt. Although modern technologies have made peat smoke unnecessary on the Scottish mainland, many distilleries soon realized the growing demand for lightly peated whiskies.
