Glenmorangie 1971 The Culloden Bottle 43% 700ml information

The Glenmorangie 1971 The Culloden Bottle is a special limited edition of 2,500 bottles, carefully distilled in 1971 and filled on 25th October 1995. This exclusive release commemorates the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Culloden in April 1746. The bottling is a replica of a rare 18th-century flask that once belonged to Duncan Forbes of Culloden and likely contained Ferintosh whisky, known as the earliest brand of Scotland. Glenmorangie, translating to "vale of tranquility" or "vale of big meadows" in Gaelic, is situated in Tain, Scotland. Owned by The Glenmorangie Company, a subsidiary of Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy, the distillery is renowned for its tall stills—the tallest in Scotland at 8 meters high with a 5.13-meter neck. This unique design contributes to producing an extremely light and delicate flavor profile. The Culloden Bottle is a significant release for Glenmorangie as it honors the milestone anniversary of the Battle of Culloden and represents the final Jacobite bottle led by Bonnie Prince Charlie. Presented in an elegant wooden box, the bottle often comes with a certificate and, at times, an accompanying book titled 'Bloody Culloden'. Glenmorangie is the 10th largest malt whisky distillery in Scotland, with an annual capacity of approximately 6.5 million liters. Despite its size, it ranks 5th in the world for single malt Scotch whisky sales. The distillery expanded to its current 12 stills in 2009 and added two extra stills in 2021 for a separate, experimental distillery onsite, poised to explore future innovations in distillation techniques.
