Daftmill is a renowned farm distillery owned and operated by the Cuthbert family, who pride themselves on growing all the barley used in their whisky right on their farm. The distillery operates only during the farm's quieter periods in mid-summer and mid-winter, producing a limited number of casks each year—sometimes as few as 100. This particular bottle is from Daftmill's 2006 single malt whisky collection. Distilled in 2006 and matured in a first-fill bourbon barrel (cask #89), this whisky offers a unique tasting experience. This specific cask was hand-selected by the Fusaro brothers of Luvians bottle shop in Fife, highlighting a friendship with the Cuthbert family that dates back to 1962. Filled on a crisp winter's day, December 29, 2006, this was the last full cask to be filled that year. Daftmill received its license to produce spirit in 2005, but it wasn't until 2018 that they bottled their first distillate—just 629 bottles of their inaugural release. This whisky, bottled in 2019, is not only a rare find but also a testament to the craftsmanship and enduring friendship between the Cuthbert and Fusaro families. With an ABV of 57.4% and a total of just 216 bottles produced, this 700ml gem stands out as a collector's item and a connoisseur's delight.
