This 'Laimrig' 15 years old Bowmore bottling was released to celebrate its role in both Bowmore's growth and was matured in hand-selected Spanish Sherry cask finish. Bottled at natural cask strength, this was one of just 18,000 bottles produced for the Feis Ile 2011. On the nose, it offers an instant aroma of coal tar soap, but the rich Oloroso sherry notes deliver an attractive counterbalance. On the palate, it is full-bodied, with a luxurious raisin and sherry taste, complemented by wood smoke. The finish is long, spicy, smoky, and warming.
Enthusiasts describe it as a "Sherry Bomb" with draping smoke. The mouthfeel is powerful, suave, velvety, and corpulent, preceded by a moderate peat attack. The final envelope carpets the palate with coffee and fat nuts. Adding water introduces a note of milk chocolate.
