Produced by the Isle of Arran Distillery, established in 1995 by Harrold Currie, a former Chivas Brothers managing director, this whisky comes from a distillery situated in the north of Arran at Lochranza. The distillery began production in 1995 and released its first whisky, a 3-year-old, in 1998. Recognized for its youthful whiskies in the early years, the distillery has grown significantly over time. In 2017, with Arran's success, an additional two stills were installed at the Lochranza site, and a second distillery, Lagg, began construction. Lagg, located on the south side of the Isle of Arran, started production in early 2019 and handles the peated element for the whiskies, complementing its sister distillery. This particular expression was aged in three different casks – French Oak, Spanish Oak, and American Oak – before being bottled at a cask strength of 57.6% ABV. It is heartening to see distilling thriving on the island once more, after nearly a century of inactivity. This whisky is a testament to the revival of distilling on the Isle of Arran and exemplifies the quality and craftsmanship the distillery is renowned for.
