The Arran Drumadoon Point is a limited edition expression of The Arran Single Malt, and the fourth and final volume of the Explorers Series. This whisky has been matured for 23 years in ex-sherry puncheons sourced directly from Jerez, from a small, respected producer who shares the distillery's values. Bottled at 49.5% ABV, it perfectly captures the impressive and dramatic scenery of Drumadoon Point, a scenic headland on the west of the Isle of Arran, which is home to Shiskine Golf Club, a unique 12-hole golf course regarded by many as one of the finest in the UK.
The nose is sweet with red apples and an underlying maltiness, followed by pastry notes. A tinge of spice appears on the palate with star anise, cinnamon, and flavors of dark chocolate and raisins. Expect a long and warming finish with a nice balance between sweet and spicy flavors.
The Arran Explorers Series is a collection of limited edition expressions of the Arran Single Malt, each celebrating the outstanding scenic beauty and diversity of nature on the Isle of Arran. The first distillation at Lochranza distillery took place in 1995, making it the first of the new wave of Scottish distilleries and paving the way for the explosion in small 'craft' distillers this century. The distillery has four stills and makes both peated and unpeated whisky - the unpeated malt is bottled as Arran, while the peated spirit is released as Machrie Moor.
