The Ardbeg Kildalton is a limited release whisky named after the Kildalton Cross, an intact high cross from the 8th century located in Scotland. Bottled in 2013, this whisky is matured in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks and has an ABV of 46%. It is presented in a box and produced by Ardbeg, one of Islay's iconic distilleries founded in 1815. Ardbeg was purchased by Diageo forerunners DCL and Hiram Walker in 1973, and the distillery's maltings were closed in 1977. The distillery was mothballed for most of the 1980s and only produced whisky for two months a year until 1996, when it was closed again. In 1997, the dilapidated Ardbeg distillery was bought by Glenmorangie plc (now part of LVMH), and its fortunes turned. This particular edition of Ardbeg Kildalton was produced to raise money for the Kildalton Project, which is part of the North Highland Initiative. The initiative's objective is to help strengthen rural areas of Scotland. This whisky has a classic Ardbeg profile with peat, fireplace amber, ash, medicinal and grassy notes on the nose, followed by sweet raisins. On the palate, the whisky has a soft mouthfeel, showing ashy and maritime notes, and some herbal accents. Originally available only at the distillery, this whisky is a unique and meaningful addition to any whisky collection.

When we find an auction of a bottle you watch, we will notify you before it ends. You can disable all auction-related notifications or disable them for individual bottles.
