The Rum Nation Jamaica 5 Jahre Oloroso Finish is a delicious rum that may be relatively young, but its several years of aging and subsequent finishing in Oloroso Sherry casks ensures that connoisseurs will still fall in love with it. This rum is distilled in the heart of the Caribbean, Jamaica, from molasses and then aged for five years. It is a heavy pot still rum that is distilled in a discontinuous, traditional manner. It is believed to be a Single Domaine Rum, where only one plantation and one establishment were involved in its production.
The rum is then finished in Oloroso Sherry casks, which gives it a reddish-golden color. Sherry casks are often used for finishing spirits, and in this case, the Oloroso Sherry has left a lasting impression on the rum.
The rum has a rich and complex flavor profile, with an intense aroma that reveals notes of cinnamon, wood, and raisins. There is also a hint of sweet and organic undertones. On the palate, one can expect flavors of raisins, dried fruit, and sweetness. There are also notes of licorice, spices like cinnamon, herbs like chamomile, and a pleasant smoothness. The rum is never too sweet and has a dry finish.
This release of the award-winning pot still rum from St. Catherine, Jamaica, was matured in the Caribbean and then refined for 15 to 18 months in second fill Oloroso barrels, plus a small percentage of Pedro Ximenez casks. The skillful blending of casks marries the brash vitality and intensely funky aromas of young Jamaican rum, with the winy, fruity and juicier complexity of sherry aging.
The Rum Nation Jamaica Oloroso is exceptional in every way: it is distilled in the heart of the Caribbean, where it ages in oak casks before being completed through its Sherry-Finishing. This process gives the rum a greater variety of aromas and enjoys high esteem: intense, creamy, and spicy, it offers an excellent taste experience.

"Much better this time with some air in the bottle. Good quality." "Very nice. Jamaica funk and complex sweetness with tropical fruits. Think the wood and char are not doing anything good for the end result. Not ruining it, but too much for me. Too much barrel and too little sherry in that Oloroso. But it does bring some nice darker spicy notes to the party." "Pleasant, beautiful rum that does not overwhelm even beginners." "Price very interesting and quite tasty, but not a particularly great Jamaican. But should not be missing in a collection." "One of the best rums in its price range. Definitely a good rum and I can only recommend it." "A rum that seems good, especially considering its price. Fruity as can be, balanced even if it has no depth. But add a drop of water and it loses a lot of flavor. Too bad and a big kudos to the blender for making the best of what he had. Perfect ABV. Tasted again and still disappointing." "5 YO Worthy Park at 50% ABV matured first in Jamaica for 15 to 18 months and then in Italy in Oloroso & Pedro Ximenez casks. This one is really heavy in the taste. Nose is nice, typical funky Jamaica but the taste is more robust than the nose. A lot of funk/esters along with fruity aroma in the nose but the palate gives more woody and heavy full-bodied taste of Jamaican rum. Lots of wood in the aftertaste that is super long. Not sure about this piece after the first 4 cl. Have to give it another go. So far I have mixed feelings as I really like the nose but the taste is kind of too heavy due to its strong sheriff woody taste. I would go with 72/100 for a start. I think we will get along just fine as soon as I get used to that strong woody taste. Let me know what you think. Retaste: Nice rum but very raw and rough probably due to its age. I had younger but they were not as sharp as this one, therefore I am pulling down my original rating. Retaste 30.4.2023 I have to say that the Oloroso finish is giving it a rounder sweeter character. Just a side note I am tasting it after Smith&Cross which is chilly/peppery and this one is better and more complex in taste. I like the nose of S&C more though. The Oloroso gives it a more chocolate and creamy feel to it. Still, you can sense a hell lot of Jamaica and woody, fruity notes. Nice rum that I appreciated fully only later when I tasted more and more rums." "Absolutely solid Jamaican!" "A nice Worthy Park. But the Oloroso finish is not my cup of tea." "Not a typical Worthy Park in terms of taste. Reminds me more of a regular Appleton." "Astonishingly good! Great value for money. Worthy Park is clearly present, and the PX finish is not dominant but very well integrated!" "Very nice. But should not be missing in a collection." "Much better this time with some air in the bottle. Good quality." "Nose ester with a sherry undertone, interesting and promising; tongue first strongly astringent, then delicious. Jamaica meets Oloroso, harmonious, tasty, 50% well integrated, who likes sweet barrel influence, is right here." "Only weak smell of glue and banana, short taste." "Tasted the Society Rum." "Long woody smoky finish."
