The Rhum J.M 2010 is a superior quality, 10-year-old aged rum from Martinique, distilled in 2010 using a Creole Column and aged for a decade with an ABV of 43.4%. This rum is made from sugar cane juice and is known for its rich aroma of vanilla, woody notes, yellow fruits, apple, and orange peel. On the palate, it reveals a complex yet approachable flavor profile featuring woody, candied, apple, and dried fruit notes. The finish is fruity and harmonious, accented by persistent vanilla and hints of spice.
As the rum aerates, the more green and concentrated notes disappear, giving way to more familiar and comforting aromas. The woody spices hold a matured, caramelized sugar cane, with a syrupy texture. The fruit tannins are still present, returning regularly with a fresh, slightly resinous touch, reminiscent of certain exotic fruit jams like guava.
The JM Millesime 2010 Brut de Fut 10 ans is a very old rum from Martinique, distilled and aged in Macouba, in the north of the island. It benefits from the only AOC in the world for rum: the AOC Martinique. Each year, JM bottles a 10-year-old rum, using an unchanged method. Each vintage reflects the Martinique terroir during a given year, and the differences can be significant. The sun, heat, and humidity influence the cane and its juice, and therefore the rum that results.
The texture is very smooth and fluid, with flavors that gently come forward, led by a sweet sugar cane juice. It is accompanied by blond tobacco with sweet spices, tender wood, and white pepper. The vanilla and coconut offer a soft sensation in the middle of the mouth.
This rum was distilled in a column in 2010 and aged for 10 years in former bourbon barrels, for a brut de fut bottling in 2020.
The rum is lively and acidic, with strong and persistent aromas, although the alcohol is quite discreet. The apples and pears were picked ripe, left for a while in the basket, and started a good oxidation phase.
