Initially, it was aged for 8 years in American ex-bourbon oak barrels in the tropical climate of Central America. Subsequently, it made its way to the southwest of France where it spent an additional 5 years maturing in 400-liter cognac casks crafted by Maison Ferrand in Javrezac. This column-distilled rum, made from molasses, is a limited edition with only 22 casks of Panamanian rums from the 2010 vintage meticulously chosen by Plantation Rum brand founder Alexandre Gabriel. Bottled at cask strength, this rum is renowned for its intricate and exotic bouquet, featuring notes of tropical and citrus fruits, coconut, plum, honey, vanilla, cinnamon, almond, sesame, and dill. The palate is rich and intricate, presenting flavors of oranges, pears, figs, berries, butterscotch, coffee, pudding, pepper, and spices. The finish is long and relatively dry, leaving traces of coconut, banana, chocolate, tobacco, licorice, and spices.
