The original Patridom XO Rum aged for years in American and French oak casks in the tropical climate of its homeland, the Dominican Republic. The Patridom XO Islay Cask Finish Rum, however, underwent further refinement through maturation in casks previously used for peated whisky from Islay, Scotland. This type of single-malt Scotch whisky cask is rarely used and imparts a smoky undertone, adding complexity and depth to the rum. This limited edition for 2022 was bottled in a quantity of only 2,000 bottles. It is a blend of 12 to 15-year-old distillates from the column still, made available without chill filtration at a compelling 44% ABV (Alcohol by Volume).
The name Patridom is a combination of the Spanish words "patrimonio" and "dominicano," which means "Dominican heritage." This is fitting for this high-quality rum from the Caribbean's Dominican Republic, crafted by the distillery Alcoholes Finos Dominicanos. However, this premium product for the luxury segment comes from the Danish company 1423 World Class Spirits, an independent bottler renowned for curating exceptional spirits.
