In 1869, brothers Ernest and Maurice Lasserre developed the Moko rum brand, importing rums from Jamaica and Martinique. For nearly a century, Moko Rum enjoyed massive success in and around Bordeaux until production ceased. In 2017, Philippe Peyrat, alongside his children Clemence and Edouard, revived the brand. They are direct descendants of the Lasserre brothers and continue to manage the Cognac house, Maison Peyrat. This time, they chose to produce and age their rums in Panama. After being imported at their original cask strength, these spirits undergo several months of aging in their own cellars, in barrels previously filled with their own Cognac. The 20-year-old Moko Rum delivers notes of caramel, vanilla, oak, tobacco, figs, grilled nuts, bourbon, and cognac.
