Guillaume de Roany, a rum and sailing enthusiast, presents this exquisite rum from the Montebello distillery in Guadeloupe. This rum was tasted directly with Guillaume in a video that can be found on our YouTube channel. After a few weeks of rest in our cellars, it was transferred to stainless steel vats where it was slowly and gently reduced to its "Optimum Proof", its optimal degree. The rum was initially matured for 6 months in small casks from the Navarra cooperage, before being loaded onto the cargo sailboat Gallant in Deshaies, Guadeloupe. It then underwent a 4-5 month maturation at sea, according to the ship's sailings in the Caribbean and its transatlantic return to Europe. This rum is a unique and exceptional product, with a rich and complex flavor profile that has been developed through its maturation both on land and at sea. The aging process in the small casks and the movement of the ship during its voyages have contributed to the creation of a truly distinctive rum.
