The Lemon Hart Original Premium Demerara Rum is a piece of history, attributed to Lehman Hart, who transformed his grandfather's trading company at the end of the 18th century by blending rums from the Caribbean islands. His nickname "Lemon" and his family name are now a registered trademark.
When Lemon's only son took over the business in 1945, a series of mergers and acquisitions followed until the Canadian company Mosaiq Inc. decided to return the Lemon Hart Rums to their roots in 2010. This original version is a blend of various Single Estate rums from the Demerara region in Guyana.
The rum acquires its distinctive flavor of brown sugar, spices, vanilla beans, cocoa, honey, caramel, and oak during the distillation process involving a rare wooden Coffey Still and wooden pot still.
