This is a fine white agricultural rum that represents the path of redemption for Héritiers Madkaud, a brand that almost disappeared and is now attempting to rebuild its reputation with a new range. The first cuvée is quite smooth on the nose, carried by vegetal and floral aromas, sugarcane, and earthy notes. There is also a slight spicy and fruity veil that suggests some aromas are trying to break free, but in vain. The attack in the mouth is quite lively, with citrus and sugarcane notes, followed by the reappearance of floral, vegetal, and earthy flavors. Some spices ignite the palate. Overall, it’s a very agricultural and conventional rum. The finish is medium-length, clean, dry, and incisive on the vegetal notes of sugarcane, herbs, and flowers.
