Mahiki Distillery is a Barbadian family-run business with roots dating back to the first half of the 19th century. From the early 20th century onwards, the distillery expanded, its name grew in fame and added other major rum brands to its portfolio. In 1995, they opened a distillery in the Saint Phillip area, formerly a sugar factory, and the following year, they launched the first rum they produced there. The rums from this distillery are aged in bourbon and Madeira casks under the watchful eye of Papa Jules, who was appointed in 2006 to run the rum bar in London's famous Mahiki Mayfair quarter.
Mahiki Coconut is a blend of Jamaican and Polynesian rum that smells of coconut and fresh fruit. Its colour is slightly pinkish like the colour of ripening fresh coconuts. At 21% alcohol, this coconut rum is an ideal choice for a variety of cocktails, but it won't be disappointing on the rocks either. The smoothness of this rum is accentuated by the coconut odour and the taste of fresh coconuts. This rum is also available in a gift pack with a stylish mug.
Those who like fuller, darker and stronger rums will be interested in Mahiki Fine Barbados rum, aged in bourbon and Madeira barrels. The golden colour captures notes of vanilla with a hint of baked bananas. A subtle hint of raisins supports the sweet finish. The rum can be enjoyed on its own or as part of more refined cocktails.
