Despite not being the most famous out of its neighbours for its rum production in the region, Mexico has large annual productions of sugar cane and features much lesser-known and niche rums, with Deadhead rum being one of the most eye-catching. The consistently expanding palette of Deadhead rums offers fine, mostly single-blended rums that will immerse you in its dark and exotic tones of leather, chocolate, and coffee to name a few.

Just having celebrated its 10 years anniversary, this brand indeed boasts one of the most unique bottles you can currently get and will definitely spice up every rum lover’s shelf. At first glance, the bottle truly stands out and catches one’s eye with its unique design featuring the shrunken, devilish head, commemorating the cultural tradition of the Maya tribe indigenous to the region.
The original 6 years old rum features a rich palette of dark and robust aromas inspired by the traditional spices and tastes of the Maya tribe. The most prominent is nutmeg, chocolate, filbert, and cola nut, with the caramel and anise lingering in the finish. The combination of these pronounced yet smooth tastes makes it an excellent choice for many cocktails such as the Mai Tai or Pina Colada.
Dark chocolate monkey is double distilled 5 years old rum that is infused with slowly roasted regionally harvested cocoa. Much like the original, the bottle features a shrunken head, but unlike the original, it’s one of a monkey.
