The Beenleigh Rum Distillery was founded in 1884 and grew out of the farm of the same name, which had been established in the area by John Davey and Frank Gooding nearly twenty years earlier.

The farm was very prosperous as the whole region around Moreton Bay had excellent conditions for growing sugar cane. At first, Davey and Gooding concentrated on growing sugar cane, building a sugar factory and later setting up their own distillery, mainly processing molasses (a by-product of sugar production). Originally it was even a floating distillery, which was built in the late 1860s. From the 1980s the distillery was moved to onshore, licensed, and is the oldest operating distillery in Australia.
This exceptional fine Australian rum has been matured for 10 years in ex-brandy and ex-bourbon casks and its dark mahogany colour hides a full-bodied taste of single rum with notes of caramel and sweet spices that are broken up by a subtle citrus flavour. In addition to vanilla, bitter orange and caramel, this Australian gem has subtle notes of nuts, fondant, and liquorice.
This strong, distinctive rum begins its unconventional journey with a twelve-day fermentation before distillation. It's an excellent choice for even the most discerning rum lovers looking for natural elegance with traditional fruity and floral notes.
